Hall & Wilcox has revealed that Rory O’Connor (pictured) has joined its Melbourne office, bringing its partner headcount to 70. He was previously a special counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright

A statement released from the independent business law firm said that the addition of Mr O’Connor to its property and projects team would strengthen the firm’s public sector and property expertise.

“Rory has developed a reputation for being able to cut through and make sense of complex technical issues and planning disputes,” Hall & Willcox managing partner Tony Macvean said.

“He will add further depth to our public sector capability as well as our existing national property and projects team.”

One of Mr O’Connor’s most recent projects was a new social housing program implemented by the Victorian government. He has also represented the government in planning panel hearings considering the merits of several social housing projects.

Mr O’Connor’s experience includes major residential, commercial in-fill and growth area development proposals, infrastructure planning, compulsory land acquisition, retail planning, prosecutions and enforcement, and water law for both private and government sectors.
